Interest Paid Information and 1098-E Forms Are Online

If you paid any interest during 2009 towards your student loan serviced by National Education Servicing, this information and the 1098-E Form have now been posted to your online account information.

To access this information, log into your account from the Home Page and select 1098 Tax Reporting from the menu on the left. The statement of 2009 interest paid will be displayed and available to print. If you made interest payments totaling $600 or more and are not enrolled in our Paperless program, a paper statement was sent to your mailing address.

The interest amount you paid for 2009 may be used as a tax deduction. Your eligibility for this type of deduction will vary on an individual basis based on the modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) and if you file an individual or joint return. For more information about tax deductions related to your student loan, contact a tax advisor, call the IRS Tax Help Line at 1-800-829-1040 or visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov.

Reminder: National Education Servicing introduced eco-friendly changes in how 1098 statements are provided to borrowers beginning in 2009. Refer to "Paperless 1098 Statements and Beyond" for the details about these changes.
