Teacher Loan Forgiveness Forbearance

Borrowers who qualify for loan forgiveness under the Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program are eligible to obtain a Teacher Loan Forgiveness Forbearance. This forbearance is granted in 12-month increments, for a maximum of five years when the required service is performed. During the forbearance period, the borrower must continue to qualify for the Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program by performing full-time qualifying teaching service as a teacher in an eligible elementary or secondary school that has been designated as a "low-income" school by the U.S. Department of Education.

Note: Completion of the Teacher Loan Forgiveness Forbearance Form does not make the borrower eligible for the Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program. Borrowers must complete a Teacher Loan Forgiveness Application after the five year teaching requirement is completed and this also requires certification by the Chief Administrative Officer at the school.
